Cape Town – The case against the second suspect in the murder case of Khayelitsha land activist Mthunzi ‘Ras Moziah’ Zuma has been provisionally withdrawn for further investigation.
The suspect made a brief appearance at the Khayelitsha Margistrate’s Court on Monday.
The family of the slain activist were visibly disappointed as this was the second time the matter had been delayed. The case against the first suspect was struck off the roll on 18 August 2017 due to a late detective. After the family went to Lingelethu West Police Station, where the docket is held, the case was removed from the lazy detective to the head of detectives at the Lingelethu West Police Station.
The date for the next appearance has not been announced but the state prosecutor said that the family will be notified.
Mthunzi Zuma, 40, was murdered on 18 May after leading a land occupation in Town 2 near Khayelitsha.
