Final year CPUT student dies after hit & run | Utshayiswe yimoto wasweleka umfundi wase-CPUT

Cape Town – Students and staff at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology are mourning the tragic death of one of their students.

Final year student, Hlalanathi Mabanga, was killed in a hit and run accident involving a taxi. CPUT spokesperson Lauren Kansley said that the incident happened at Vootrekker Road in the early hours of the morning on Saturday.

Kansley said that they have been informed that the student will be buried on Saturday in the Eastern Cape.

Student organization, SASCO Tisha Vanga, sent its condolences to the friends and family of Mabanga.

Mabanga was in her final year of Operations Management studies.

CPUT appealed to anyone with information to make contact with the South African Police Services.

  1. My condolences to the family. The perpetrator must be severely dealt with to treat a daughter away from home striving towards a successful future in such a disrespectful way. I am disgusted .
