Cape Town – Former YOTV presenter and actor, Akhumzi Jezile, has been killed in a head-on collision involving two vehicles near Queenstown on Saturday.

The accident which claimed five lives happened on the N6 near Queenstown in the early hours of Saturday morning, but police spokesperson Captain Namhla Mdleleni could not immediately confirm the identity of those killed, however news of Jezile’s death circulated all over social media on Saturday afternoon with Xhosa comedian, Tsepiso Nzayo, posting a tweet from a Facebook account of someone believed to be a relative seemingly confirming the news of Jezile’s passing on.

Musician Da Les also confirmed the passing on of the former Umhlobo Wenene FM presenter.

Captain Mdleleni said that there was a collision between two vehicles, one travelling from Queenstown while the other one, believed to be Jezile’s vehicle, was travelling from Johannesburg.

Jezile was headed to the Eastern Cape for the long weekend according to his last social media activity.

Jezile shot to fame as a presenter in SABC 1’s YOTV game show in 2007 until 2012 before moving on to acting and radio presenting.
