Cape Town – Vernac News has reliably learnt that UCT SRC President, Mthobisi Mngomezulu, had resigned and later retracted his decision on Thursday.
Mngomezulu confirmed to Vernac News that he had resigned but after much deliberation retracted his resignation.
This comes amid growing concerns of the credibility of the student body amongst students.
Mngomezulu is the second 2017/2018 UCT SRC President after upstaging his fellow DASO UCT member, Karabo Khakhau, in what has come to be known as the ‘UCT silent coup’ following the 19 March SRC reshuffle.
This latest move comes at as a result of a protracted power struggle between the warring DASO UCT factions, both using the minority parties such as PASMA and EFFSC to their own ends.
