POEM:Partly Cloud

By: Nozipho Madlala

Partly cloudy,
With a chance that things might be different tonight
you walk in,
another long day at the office.
and the only therapy is me
on the couch,
waiting for your body to spit out
the stress
and insecurity
till I’m a muddy puddle.
and your footprint on my chest
becomes a permanent
symbol of your love.
But I don’t mind the wind
and the rain,
just as long as it’s you
hovering over me-
a dark cloud
on an otherwise sunny sky-
with a chance that things
might be different tonight.
And I’ll take the electrifying
lightening from your hands
to my face,
over your absence any day.
my eyes, partly cloudy
with light showers expected-
I’d rather drown in my own tears
than fly away during a storm.
just as long as it’s you,
standing there,
Partly cloudy,
With a chance that things
might be different tonight.
