Cape Town- The cases against six University of Cape Town students involved in the #FeesMustFall campaign have been withdrawn.

Qondiswa James, Sihle Lonzi, Ndumiso Gina, Lerato Sereake, Khayalethu Maneli and Nsovo Shandlale appeared before the Wynberg Regional Court on Wednesday. They were arrested on 2 November 2017 during the #UCTShutDown on charges relating from public violence, damage to public property and public violence.

The six students underwent community service and on their appearance today the court was presented with reports on their conduct during the community service assessments.

The students were represented by attorney Lufuno Musetsho who remarked that he was very happy that his clients were granted a withdrawal which meant that they would not have criminal records against their names.

Musetsho represented four other students, Athabile Nonxuba, Zimasa Delihlazo, Minenhle Mngadi and Phakamani Ntentema, whose cases were withdrawn on similar grounds when they appeared in court on 19 July 2018.
