The #FeesMustFall case against UCT student activist Masixole Mlandu has been postponed to 21 January 2019.
Mlandu appeared before the Wynberg Regional Court on Friday where the court heard feedback regarding progress of his 150 hours of community service ordered by the court in his last experience as a prerequisite for acquittal.
The court found that Mlandu had only completed 112 hours of community service meaning that he still had 38 more hours to complete. He was ordered to complete the hours and come back to court on 21 January when his matter will likely be finalized.
A visibly frustrated Mlandu said that he could not wait for this matter to be completed so that he could carry on with his life.
“I have been attending this court case for more than 2 years now and it has been distracting and frustrating at the same time. To a point where my academic performance has been affected heavily by going in and out of court alone.”
“So I wish I could get over this phase and pursue other things in life. I’m positive that next appearance is the last time I’m attending court due to the #FeesMustFall protests”, said Mlandu.
